The Student-Led Conference (SLC) is a day when every Vega learner presents the academic concepts learnt at school, as per the CBSE standards, to their parents. The learners share how they have progressed academically as well as socially, and also define future learning and behavioural goals for themselves. Thus, SLCs help parents and educators see the all-round development in their child, not just academic - something that a standard test score cannot measure. What happens at the SLC? At the SLC, learners do a group presentation showing how different concepts from different subjects can be applied in real-life situations, thereby showing how deeply they understand these academic concepts. They also answer spontaneous questions asked by their parents and educators. The learners also present their personal portfolios containing work samples from their classes to their parents. With guidance from their educators, they self-assess their academic and social behaviour in recent times and define future goals that they would like themselves to meet. They share the outcomes of this authentic self-reflection with their parents on the day of the SLC. SLC is the beautiful evidence of how young minds can awaken to self-awareness and responsibility The awareness of one's own strengths and improvement areas is an essential skill for being joyous and successful in life. It is also a rare one.
